Jean-François d'Aubuisson de Voisins (1762-1841) was a chief engineer in the Royal Corps of Mines, Knight of Saint-Louis and the Legion of Honor, and a corresponding member of the Institute of France. His Traité d'hydraulique (Treatise on Hydraulics) is a fundamental work for 19th-century engineers, covering the principles and applications of hydraulics in the context of civil and mining engineering. The book was a major reference for the study of water movement, canals, and hydraulic machinery, essential during the era of industrialization.
